Smile And The World Smiles With You

It is amazing how many people are scared to smile when they are happy, because they are concerned that people will look at their teeth and notice they aren′t white. This is a really revealing fact – smiling is one of the most natural things to do in reaction to something positive happening. It is largely instinctive, and the decision to override your instincts means that you have a very clear concern.

This is one of the major selling points for teeth whitening. If you are scared to smile broadly, then you have to constantly be on your guard. Praise from your boss at work, a compliment from someone you are attracted to, an impromptu photograph – they are all situations that demand a smile, and not smiling in the situation will draw more attention than anything else. If you aren′t prepared to smile in this situation then it is clear that you are more concerned about the state of your teeth than you are happy about the situation itself.

A smile is a powerful thing. Smiling at someone can be massively important – showing them that you are interested in them, giving them support for something good that they have done, encouraging them in a difficult situation. Having your smile taken away is a troubling thing. In this respect, it is important to do something about it. Teeth whitening is an investment in yourself, as it allows you to be yourself more. That is something worth any price you can pay.

The Price Of Vanity?

September 28, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

The decision to whiten your teeth is one that can have many reasons behind it. If your smile is less than you would like it to be, you will want to change it. It may have been commented on by friends, it may have been the source of insults from an unsympathetic stranger, or it may even have upset your kids. Sometimes, someone will just decide to whiten their teeth as part of a self-improvement process so that they look as good as they can.

In this respect, whitening your teeth can be different things to different people. However, it is important to take the importance of your reasons into account before you have the procedure done. This is important because teeth whitening is not always without complications. There are many different ways of having your teeth whitened. You can buy a home whitening kit and do it yourself, or go to a dentist’s surgery. How you do it will affect how successful it is and what the side-effects may be.

Your teeth may end up looking better, but they are not guaranteed to. There is a danger that the acidic properties of the whitening chemicals may actually cause your teeth to be damaged. There is a danger of gum irritation and sensitive teeth in the aftermath of the process, and others have reported cases of nausea and vomiting from ingesting the chemicals. For this reason it is important to ensure that you get your teeth whitened in the most secure way possible – by a reputable surgeon or with a reliable kit.

A Cosmetic Difference

September 28, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

One of the big developments of the past few decades is the combination of cosmetic and medical. We see this most clearly in the rise of plastic surgery – it′s a procedure that needs a doctor to carry it out, but it is not specifically necessary – at least not for the purposes of staying alive and healthy. Teeth whitening is one of these things – a cosmetic dentistry procedure that may not be absolutely necessary, but with results desirable enough to make it worth spending what it takes to have the benefit.

There is a lot of debate about teeth whitening – is it a matter of pure vanity, or something more? Someone who has had cosmetic dentistry may well receive some mockery from friends. Outwardly, it seems to be a vain thing to do. On the other hand, having your teeth whitened is something which has genuine positive benefits. It can be beneficial for your employment prospects, and not only if you are an actor or a model.

Sitting in a job interview, you want to be as confident as possible, and exude an air of control. One of the things that you will particularly want to do is smile at the people across the table from you. If you feel confident to do this, you can be reasonably liberated in the interview and give the best account of yourself. This in itself can be a financially beneficial situation – so having good, white teeth is about more than just looking good – it can be about feeling good and advancing your life.

Have Your Teeth Whitened While You Wait

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

The process of teeth whitening has become more and more popular in recent years, as people look to improve their smiles and look and feel better. In this respect, it is important to go about it the right way. But what is the right way?

There are two principal ways to have your teeth whitened. One; you can go to a dentist’s office to have the work done professionally. Two; you can buy a home teeth whitening kit and do it yourself. Each of these methods has its benefits and its negative aspects. Objectively, people will say that the first method is more effective and safer for the patient, but is more expensive. The second is cheaper, more convenient and, in many people’s view, perfectly effective especially in cases of light staining.

Which method you choose is dependent on your priorities. The expense of cosmetic dentistry is cited as a major reason why people decide against it. This may not be entirely fair, though, as there are good deals to be found out there, including two-for-one deals that allow you and a friend to have your teeth whitened at the same time for the price of a single treatment.

The home method may be the best for you. It allows you to whiten your teeth without having to go out of your way, and avoids the “dentist’s chair” procedure that gives many people cause to panic. It is cheaper too – but if your teeth are heavily stained then it may not pick everything up and you may need more than a few treatments. It depends on your priorities.

What Are Your Options?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

Whitening your teeth is an option that more and more people are exploring these days, and as a result the breadth of options for teeth whitening methods has expanded. While it is true that there have been commercial “teeth whitening” toothpastes on the market for some time, this is more of a marketing play – for the most part, those pastes will only help to whiten your teeth as part of a full dental hygiene program.

What is available to you is as follows. Firstly, there is the option to have the whitening done on site by a dentist who will carry out the work in one visit, from the application of the mould to its removal and clean-up. This is the most expensive, but perhaps the most effective, method of teeth-whitening.

Secondly, you can purchase a whitening kit from your dentist and do the work yourself as per their directions. This will cost less than having the dentist do the job, and will perhaps be less effective, but you can be confident that the kit is at least dentist-approved and that their guidance will help you use the kit.

Finally, you can buy an over-the-counter teeth whitening kit from a pharmacy or similar which can be used as per the instructions that come with the kit. Due to the regulations on what can be sold over the counter, this may be the least effective option, but will also be the least expensive. If you just want a boost to tooth whiteness for a specific occasion, then this will be your best option.

Why Have Your Teeth Whitened By A Dentist?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

The expense of having your teeth professionally whitened in a dentist’s office is well-known. Many insurance plans do not cover cosmetic dentistry and paying for it yourself can set you back a handy amount of money. Given that this is the case, why do people still get this work done professionally?

The most obvious reason is implicit in the term “professional”. The fact that the work is done by a qualified dentist is good news because you can feel confident that you will be happy with the results. Given that they do this for a living, you can also be sure that it won’t take too long for them to do it – visible and exciting results can be seen in as little as an hour.

Secondly, confidence in the ability of the surgeon is an important aspect in any medical or dental procedure. You want to be sure that they can do it safely, and as a dentist’s reputation and their job relies on being able to do what they are asked without harming the patient, you know that an experienced dental surgeon can do what you ask of them and not harm you.

Finally, having your teeth whitened professionally is an option that is coming down in price as competition increases. In many cases, dentists are offering deals which allow two people to have their teeth whitened for the price of one, while others are offering special deals on payment which bring the treatment within the price range of more patients.

Why Whiten Your Teeth With A Kit From A Dentist?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

For people who cannot, or would rather not, spend the amount of money necessary to have their teeth whitened by a dentist – but would rather not take their chances with an over-the-counter treatment – the middle option of buying a kit from a dentist has become a popular process. How sound a choice is this, and who would benefit most from having the treatment this way?

Most obviously, there are people who want to have their teeth whitened but have no dental insurance or a plan that does not cover cosmetic dentistry – which is probably most people. If you don’t have the money to have the work done by a dentist, then purchasing the kit allows you to have similar results at a significantly reduced price.

Then there are people who are reluctant to brave the dentist’s chair. Sitting in a dentist’s office is enough to give many people cause to panic, as they feel vulnerable and uncomfortable. Being able to use a professional standard whitening kit at home is beneficial for these people, as they are in a position of control.

The main concern about whitening your teeth in this way is that it takes a lot longer than having a dentist perform the whitening – it needs to be done over the course of a week or two. Balancing this with the importance of eating the right things makes is less convenient, and many people forget to apply the product or find it hard to make time.

Why Buy An Over-The-Counter Whitening Kit?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

For people who want to whiten their teeth, but cannot justify the expense of a dental procedure or a kit bought from a dentist, there is an option which costs less and tends to be less demanding on their time. This is the option of buying a tooth-whitening kit in a pharmacy or elsewhere and going it alone by following the instructions on the packaging – but is this a wise option?

The truth is well-known: Buying a home whitening kit from a pharmacy is not going to have the same results as a procedure carried out by a dentist. Most people buying such a kit will be aware of this, as the equipment necessarily is less advanced and more generic. It is an option that best suits people who have light staining and just want to refresh their smile – in advance of a job interview or similar.

The home whitening kits available on the market range from whitening trays and strips, through toothpaste and mouthwash, to gums. The quality of results that can be expected from each of these is variable, and it is worth looking for online reviews of the kits available. Look for one that has almost blanket positive reviews.

It should be remembered that these kits will at best remove surface stain from the teeth and contain a low percentage of the effective ingredient hydrogen peroxide. Some commercially-available kits have notably unpleasant side-effects, too, so it really is essential to research your options before buying a home teeth whitening kit.

Laser Teeth Whitening – How Safe Is It?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Articles, Everything you need to know

In recent years, the addition of another process to the range of options for teeth-whitening procedures has caused plenty of conversation. The use of lasers to whiten teeth is something that makes a lot of people understandably nervous. Science-fiction has led us to look at lasers as something dangerous – so should we be nervous about having them trained on our teeth?

The answer to this question is “no”. It’s actually that simple, there are no concerns about the safety of laser whitening that come from anything more than the (entirely natural) human reaction to the idea of laser teeth whitening. The studies required to guarantee safety before the practice became widespread, as well as many studies since, show that not only is laser whitening safe, it can actually be painless compared with other processes.

Obviously, this does not stop everyone from having worries about the safety of laser teeth whitening. We all know that air travel is largely risk-free, but many people are still scared of flying. If you are nervous about laser teeth-whitening, then there is not much that can be done to convince you that it is totally safe. However, it is worth trusting in the studies that back up its safety.

The laser treatment works because a laser is used to heat the solution that covers the teeth, making the solution active and ensuring the success of the treatment. This speeds the effectiveness of tooth whitening and people who have had it done remark on how painless and hassle-free it really is, especially compared with other dental treatments.

Believe The Hype?

September 27, 2011 by
Filed under Everything you need to know

Teeth whitening has become more popular in recent years, to the point where it is now an ultra-competitive marketplace. As any expert on commerce will tell you, a competitive marketplace is a varied marketplace, where there will be good and bad, value and borderline fraud. In order to stand out in such a competitive marketplace, it is necessary to have something to offer. Many companies, aware of this fact, will make stupendous claims for their product or service – and leave you with the decision on whether or not to believe them.

Usually, all that is necessary to debunk the more ludicrous claims is a bit of common sense. If a home whitening course is packaged with blurb that claims it to be the “strongest formula ever – unbeatable results”, they are probably lying to you. In fact, it would be best if they were lying to you, because the strongest tooth whitening formula should certainly not be in the possession of anyone who is not a doctor. It would be enormously dangerous.

Other times, the claims are a little less sensational, and may well be true. With the internet being the indispensable research tool that it has become, you may be best served by doing a little detective work before making a decision on any tooth-whitening kit. Spending too much money on something that has limited use is a mistake that too many of us make, and can be avoided if we look on consumer sites and review sites.
